Tired of ads for gambling, alcohol, junk food, or things that just don't apply to you? Refyn lets you choose what to block — across all your apps and browsers, in one place.
Millions of people are served ads every day for the exact things they're trying to avoid — gambling, alcohol, fast food, cigarettes. Ad settings are buried, inconsistent, and limited to one platform at a time.
Refyn puts you back in control. Tell us what you never want to see, and we'll block it across every app and browser you use — automatically.
Behind every one of these numbers is someone who deserves better.
Create a free account in seconds — no technical knowledge needed.
Link your social media and browsers in one tap — Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, Chrome, and more.
Pick the ad categories you never want to see. Set it once and forget it.
We submit your request to each platform and let you know once it's been actioned.
Refyn runs quietly in the background. Your dashboard shows how many harmful ads have been removed.
Forward-thinking employers already invest in gym memberships and wellness stipends. Refyn extends that same commitment into employees' digital lives — reducing exposure to harmful, triggering advertising across the platforms they use every day, at work and at home.
Preventative care for the mind, not just the body.
Employees see less advertising linked to gambling, alcohol, and other high-risk categories — lowering everyday psychological triggers, on and off the clock.
Genuine wellbeing covers both body and mind. Refyn gives employees a straightforward, practical way to manage their digital environment, every day.
A calmer digital environment supports employee wellbeing at scale — helping reduce absenteeism and keep teams focused and productive.

This Privacy Policy is issued by Refyn Limited (all references to “Refyn”, “we”, “us” or “our” in this notice refer to Refyn Limited). We are registered in Ireland under company number 822119 and have our registered address at Office 2, 12A Lower Main Street, K78 X5P8.
Refyn is committed to protecting the privacy and personal data of its users. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, process and store personal data in connection with the Refyn app and platform, in compliance with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and the Data Protection Act 2018.
The controller for the Refyn app and platform is Refyn Limited, which is responsible for the collection, processing and storage of personal data of our users. If you have any questions or concerns about this Privacy Policy or our general data practices, you can contact us at hello@refyn.online.
Where you are contacting us specifically to exercise a data subject right, or in connection with a request Refyn is submitting on your behalf as your agent (see “Acting as your authorised agent” below), please also contact hello@refyn.online.
Refyn is a platform that gives users control over the advertising categories they see across participating social media platforms and browsers. Refyn allows users to (a) block categories of advertising they don't want to see, and (b) tell us categories they'd like to see more of. Blocking requests are passed directly to the relevant platform so they can stop showing you those ads. With your consent, “see more” signals can be shared with third-party advertising partners so they can show you more relevant advertising.
We collect the following categories of personal data in order to provide the Refyn service:
Name
Email address
Phone number
Unique marketing identifier (a device-specific identifier used to recognise your device for advertising-preference purposes)
Your ad-preference selections — the categories of advertising you choose to block, and any categories you choose to actively see more of
Where you engage our agent service, identity verification data necessary to confirm you are the account holder (see “Acting as your authorised agent” below)
We collect this data directly from you when you register for and use the Refyn app.
Refyn lets you tell us two different things: what you'd like to block, and what you'd like to see more of. We handle these differently, and it's important you understand the difference.
Categories you choose to block. When you block a category, we pass that request directly to the relevant social media or advertising platform so they can stop showing you ads in that category. We don't share this information with advertisers — it goes from you, to Refyn, to the platform, for the sole purpose of stopping unwanted ads.
Categories you choose to see more of. When you tell us you'd like to see more of a category, you're giving us a signal about your interests. With your consent, we share this signal with participating third-party advertisers, together with a pseudonymised (hashed) version of your marketing identifier, so they can show you advertising that better matches what you've told us you're interested in. We do not share your name, email address or phone number with these advertisers — only the hashed identifier and the category you've expressed interest in.
We will never share your preferences relating to sensitive categories with third-party advertisers, even where you have asked to see more of one of these categories. Sharing with advertising partners for targeting purposes is limited to non-sensitive interest categories only.
You're in control of this. You can turn off sharing of your “see more” signals at any time from your ad preference settings in the Refyn app. If you do, we'll stop sharing new signals with advertisers going forward — this won't affect sharing that already happened, and it won't affect your blocking preferences, which are never shared with advertisers regardless.
A note on hashing: a hashed identifier is not the same as an anonymous one. Under GDPR, a hashed identifier is still personal data if it's capable, in principle, of being linked back to you — by us or by the advertiser receiving it. You keep the same rights over this data as over any other personal data we hold about you, set out in “Your Rights” below.
We collect and process personal data for the following purposes:
To register users and enable them to set and manage their advertising preferences on the Refyn platform
To apply your blocking preferences within the Refyn app and, where applicable, participating browsers
To pass your blocking requests to participating platforms so they can update your advertising profile
With your consent, to share your “see more” interest signals with third-party advertising partners so they can show you more relevant advertising
To verify your identity for the purposes of the above
To respond to queries or complaints
To communicate with users regarding their account, preferences and service updates
To personalise and improve the Refyn app and our services
To comply with legal and regulatory requirements
We process your personal data lawfully using one of the following legal bases:
Consent — for sharing your “see more” signals with advertising partners, and for engaging our agent service to pass your blocking requests to platforms. You can withdraw your consent at any time.
Performance of a contract — to register you and provide the core Refyn service, including applying your blocking preferences.
Legitimate interests — to maintain, secure and improve our products and services, and to respond to queries.
Legal obligations — where we are required to process data under law, for example a request from An Garda Síochána or the Data Protection Commission.

| To pass your requests to platforms as your agent | Name, email address, cryptographic attestation of identity verification, mandate/authorisation record | Consent; Performance of a contract |
| To contact you about your account or preferences | Name, email address, phone number, account activity | Legitimate interests; Performance of a contract |
| To respond to queries and complaints | Name, email address, contents of your query | Legitimate interests |

Where you opt in to Refyn's agent service, you authorise Refyn to pass your blocking requests to participating platforms on your behalf, so they can apply the change to your advertising profile. This applies to blocking requests only — requests to see more of a category are handled separately, as set out in “How We Use and Share Your Ad Preferences” above.
To do this, we need to satisfy each recipient platform that the request genuinely comes from you and is properly authorised. We do this by:
Verifying your identity as the account holder making the request
Recording your mandate authorising Refyn to submit the request on your behalf
Sharing with the recipient platform only a cryptographic attestation of that identity verification — we do not share your raw credentials, two-factor authentication codes, session tokens, or passwords with any platform
This is a novel service without a directly established Irish or EU precedent for this exact model. We keep this Policy under review as best practice in this area develops.
You can withdraw your authorisation for Refyn to act as your agent at any time by contacting hello@refyn.online. This will not affect requests already submitted on your behalf.
We use third-party service providers to support the operation of the Refyn platform, including providers of:
App hosting infrastructure
Email infrastructure
Analytics and product usage measurement
Customer support tools
These providers process personal data strictly on our instructions and under appropriate data protection agreements. A list of our current data processors is available on request by contacting hello@refyn.online.
We may also share your data with:
Participating social media and advertising platforms, limited to your matching identifier and blocking-category selections, together with the identity attestation and mandate information necessary for Refyn to act as your agent (see “Acting as your authorised agent”)
Participating third-party advertising partners, limited to your pseudonymised (hashed) matching identifier and “see more” category selections, and only where you have given consent
Law enforcement agencies, where required by law
Third parties, their agents and professional advisors, subject to confidentiality obligations, for the purpose of due diligence in connection with any proposed merger, acquisition, reorganisation, financing or transfer of our business
We may share anonymised or aggregated data with partners for analytics purposes. Users cannot be identified from genuinely anonymised data.
We do not currently transfer your personal data outside the European Economic Area, including to a jurisdiction not recognised by the European Commission as providing an equivalent level of protection for personal data as is provided in the EU. If and to the extent that we do so, we will ensure appropriate safeguards are in place, such as the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses or, for transfers to the United States, reliance on the EU-US Data Privacy Framework. If you would like further details of the measures we have taken in this regard, please contact us at hello@refyn.online.
We retain personal data for as long as necessary to provide the Refyn service and comply with our legal and regulatory obligations, or to protect our rights. In determining retention periods we consider the amount, nature and sensitivity of the data, the risk of harm from unauthorised use or disclosure, the purposes of processing, and applicable legal requirements.
For audit, compliance and programme-integrity purposes, we may retain records of requests submitted on your behalf, identity verification records, and authentication and security logs, for longer periods where necessary to demonstrate compliance.
You have the following rights, in certain circumstances and subject to certain restrictions, in relation to your personal data:
Right to access — to request a copy of the personal data we hold about you
Right to rectification — to have inaccurate or incomplete data corrected
Right to erasure — to request deletion of your personal data
Right to restriction or to object — to request that we stop processing your data for particular purposes, including direct marketing
Right to data portability — to receive your data in a structured, machine-readable format
Right to withdraw consent — at any time, without affecting the lawfulness of processing before withdrawal
To exercise any of these rights, please contact us at hello@refyn.online.
You are not required to provide us with your personal data. However, certain information (such as your email address and phone number) is necessary for us to provide the Refyn service to you. If you do not provide this information, we may be unable to provide our services to you.
We take appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect personal data against unauthorised access, theft and loss. We require any agents or third-party service providers who process your personal data on our behalf to keep it safe and secure.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The current version will always be available at refyn.online, and we will notify you of material changes.
If you have questions or complaints about our use of your personal data, including matters relating to a request Refyn has submitted on your behalf, please contact us at hello@refyn.online.
You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the Irish Data Protection Commission if you are not satisfied with how we have handled your information or your rights. Further information is available at www.dataprotection.ie.
